Sun Blade[tm] 100 Workstation: Repair Procedures

This section provides the most common repair procedures for the Sun Blade 100 workstation. The written procedures below are links to the Sun Blade 100 Service Manual (806-3416).

Component Tips
CPU Module
  • CPU die temperature reported by 'prtdiag' and 'prtpicl' is incorrect on Sun Blade 100/150 and is not a supported function (FIN I1021-1).
Disk Drive (Primary)
  • Installation of a Seagate ST320011A HDD into the drive tray of a Sun Blade 100 will unseat the hard drive tray latch cover (FIN I0787-1).
  • New 20.1GB disk drive is being released in a limited number of Sun Blade 100 systems (FIN I0872-1).
Disk Drive (Secondary)
  • Installation of a Seagate ST320011A HDD into the drive tray of a Sun Blade 100 will unseat the hard drive tray latch cover (FIN I0787-1).
  • New 20.1GB disk drive is being released in a limited number of Sun Blade 100 systems (FIN I0872-1).
Memory
  • When an ECC error occurs on Sun Blade 100, Solaris incorrectly identifies the faulty DIMM (FIN I0798-1).
  • Idle Sun Blade 100 systems may experience unscheduled reboots (FCO A0205-1).
PCI Card
  • The SunPCi II board may not seat properly in the Sun Blade 100 chassis (FIN I0739-1).
  • SunPCi II and SunPCi IIpro cards may not respond after rapid/successive power cycling (FCO A0186-1).
Smart Card Reader
  • Solaris 8 patches required for Smart Card Reader operation on Sun Blade 100, 1000, and 2000 systems (FIN I0868-1).
System Board
  • New system boards with part number 375-3106 require special patches. Refer to the Sun Blade 100 Motherboard Update and Sun PGX64 Patch Procedures, 816-7660.
  • New Motherboard FRU for Sun Blade 100 systems requires modified installation procedure (FIN I0843-1).
  • 'prtconf' command may return wrong System Board part number on Sun Blade 100 systems (FIN I0923-1).
  • SunBlade 100 systems may not auto-restart after a power failure (FCO A0204-1).
