DOC: 806-3416-10: Sun Blade 100 Service Manual.
Issue Description:
The Sun Blade 100 is supported by 4 different versions of Motherboards
(see TABLE 1). The latest version of the Motherboard, P/N 375-3123-01,
has just been released. Service personnel need to be aware of the
compatibilities among these different board versions, and should be
aware of the special installation procedure for the 375-3123 board.

For quick installation/removal, the Sun Blade 100 Motherboard FRU has
been assembled to the Motherboard tray. The primary difference between
the Motherboards is EMI compliance and physical fit of the associated
Motherboard tray.

Due to a shortage of trays to support the Class A systems, a new FRU
has been created. The new FRU (P/N 375-3123) is the Motherboard
without the tray. The repair strategy for P/N 375-3123 requires the
tray in the system to be re-used.

The Sun Blade Motherboard chronology is as follows:

375-0096: Original Sun Blade 100 Motherboard. It was used on the
first 15000 systems and is Class A Compliant.

375-3061: This Motherboard incorporates several fixes including the
new tray which makes the system class B compliant. The tray
used on 375-3061 is "NOT" compatible with and will not fit
in the 15000 Class A chassis currently in the Field. This
is the Motherboard that is used on current production systems.

375-3092: The tray used on 375-3092 "IS" compatible with the 15000
Class A chassis currently in the field.

375-3123 This Motherboard FRU contains the Motherboard without the tray.
The replacement strategy is to mount the Motherboard to the tray
contained in the system to be repaired.

NOTE: The Motherboards contained in the 375-3123, 375-3092, and 375-3061
FRUs are identical. The only difference is the tray.

                               =======

        -------------------------------------------------------

**375-3123 is the same board used in 375-3061 and can be installed in
any Sun Blade 100 system (re-uses tray already in system). For ease of
installation we are only recommending this FRU be used to support Class
A systems (identified by the presence of 375-0096 or 375-0092).

Field personnel can identify Sun Blade 100 systems compliance levels by
referring to the EZ label on the left corner of the system (next to the
smart card reader). Class B compliant systems are identified by the
letter "A" on the EZ label. Class A compliant systems will not have
have an alpha character on the EZ label.

Field personnel can also identify Sun Blade 100 system compliance levels
by referring to the part number of the Motherboard to be removed.

Corrective Action:
The following recommendation is provided as a guideline for authorized
Enterprise Services Field Representatives who may encounter the above
mentioned problem.

1. Use FRU 375-3123 as a replacement in Class A Sun Blade 100 systems only.

2. When using P/N 375-3123 as a Sun Blade Motherboard replacement,
field personnel should install the new Motherboard into the existing
Motherboard tray. This process involves the removal and replacement
of five (5) Phillips screws and two (2) 3/16th hex nuts.

See Section 8.5 in the Sun Blade 100 Service Manual, 806-3416-10, for
   detailed Motherboard installation/removal procedures.
