Sun Fire[tm] V210 / V240, RoHS:YL Server: Repair Procedures

This section provides the most common repair procedures for the Sun Fire V210 and V240, which are included in the following manual:

Component Tips
DVD-ROM Drive (documented in 816-4826)
  • On V2x0 Systems, The DVD Drive May Not Open After Being Replaced (FAB 1000005.1).
Fan
  • Identifying an older system that requires an X-Option FAN Upgrade Kit (X7418A) when adding 1GB memory DIMMs on Sun Fire V210 systems (FIN I1117-1).
Memory
  • Minimum OBP version is required to support new DIMMs with 333MHz dual data rate. (FIN I1148-1).
  • Systems will fail to pass self-test if the OBP version is below the required minimum level to support the JEDEC SPD 1.0 formatted DIMMs (FIN I1092-1).
PCI Riser Card (V240)
  • A short circuit on the V240 PCI Riser Card connector following reconfiguration or reassembly may cause charring of the Motherboard or system power-down (FIN I1075-1).
Rack
  • Sun 72" Delorean rack kit for the Sun Fire V210/V240 is missing mounting screws (FIN I1142-1).
System Board
  • Incorrect handling of V2x0 systems boards can cause premature or intermittent failure. (FAB 1000363.1).
  • A short circuit on the V240 PCI Riser Card connector following reconfiguration or reassembly may cause charring of the Motherboard or system power-down (FIN I1075-1).
