Issue Description: 

This FIN details how to identify Sun Fire V210 systems that have the
old fans and require installation of the FAN Upgrade X-option when
installing 1GB memory DIMMs.

The Sun Fire V210 can now support 1GB memory DIMMs however more
powerful system fans are required.  All new builds of Sun Fire V210
systems contain the upgraded fans were available since February, 2004.
When a customer wishes to install 1GB memory DIMMs into older Sun Fire
V210 system, an X-option Fan Upgrade Kit Part Number x7418A MUST also
be purchased by the customer via the normal sales process.

The following methods have also been adopted to help identify when the 
X-option Fan Upgrade Kit is required. 

   A. Stickers are being fitted to the systems to identify that new
      fans are fitted.

   B. The Webdesk system configurator currently warns of the need for a 
      Fan Upgrade Kit when 1GB DIMMs are selected.

   C. The long description of the 1GB Memory DIMM X-option is also being 
      modified to indicate which versions of the Sun Fire V210 require the 
      Fan Upgrade Kit  

Sun Fire V210 Systems that require the X-option Fan Upgrade Kit to be
fitted can be identified by the Manufacturing Part number located on
the right hand side of the System.  See the CORRECTIVE ACTION section of
this FIN for details of which systems require the X-option Fan Upgrade
Kit.

New uprated fans were introduced into the Sun Fire V210 system to
enable the product to support 1GB memory DIMMs.  An X-option Fan Upgrade
Kit is available for Customers to purchase that enables installation
of 1GB memory DIMMs in older systems which do not have the uprated
fans.

Corrective Action: 

The following recommendation is provided as a guideline for authorized
Sun Services Field Representatives who may encounter the above
mentioned issue.

To identify whether the FAN upgrade Kit X-option is required, check the
Manufacturing Part Number of the system which can be found on the right 
hand side label (when viewed from the front) of the Sun Fire V210 system.

The list below indicates the systems that require, or, do not require
Fan Upgrade Kit.

i)   In case of MANDATORY FINs, Sun Services will attempt to    
     contact all affected customers to recommend implementation of 
     the FIN. 
   
ii)  For CONTROLLED PROACTIVE FINs, Sun Services mission critical    
     support teams will recommend implementation of the FIN  (to their  
     respective accounts), at the convenience of the customer. 

iii) For REACTIVE FINs, Sun Services will implement the FIN as the   
     need arises.
