Ultra[tm] 30 Workstation: Repair Procedures

This section provides the most common repair procedures for the Ultra 30. Many of the written procedures below are links to the Ultra 30 Service Manual (802-7719).

Component Tips
Disk Drive
  • 18.2GB and 36GB IBM disk drives may be susceptible to early life failures problem (FIN I0724-2).
PCI Card
  • When one or more PCI QFE cards are plugged into 33MHz slot(s), the Ultra 30 does not come out of reset when powered up (FCO A0132-1).

    •
PCI Fan Assembly
  • A noise reduction kit (X2087A ) is available to reduce acoustic noise of system (FIN I0538-1).
