Sun Fire[tm] X4150, RoHS:YL Server: Repair Procedures

This section provides tips (when available) for the most common repair procedures for the Sun Fire X4150. The repair procedures are provided in the following manual:

The following table provides tips associated with each component.

Component Tips
Fan
  • Fan Connectors on the Fan Boards are being damaged upon Fan removal/replacement for systems using the Jake 1U chassis. (FAB 1019695.1).
Miscellaneous
  • On Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 (RHEL4) GA through RHEL4.5, it is possible for the memory management data of a process to be modified while the process is still active on another processor, causing the system to hang. (FAB 1019068.1).
Remote Mangement
  • First Issue:64 Intel-based platforms transitioning from ELOM to ILOM. (FAB 1019481.1).
Removable Media
  • First Issue: DVD Drive Read and Write Errors and/or media damage possibly resulting in the DVD Drive being unusable at any level of system operation. Second Issue: DVD Backplane connector damage may result from a missalignment between the DVD Drive and backplane connector. (FAB 1019082.1).
  • DVD does not align during installation of the DVD and can cause damage to the DVD and/or backlplane. (FAB 1019599.1).
Service Processor
  • No console output when connected to the Service Processor (SP). This issue will manifest itself on initial power on of the system. (FAB 1018982.1).
SAS RAID HBA
  • Battery for SAS RAID HBA fails with depleted charge. (FAB 1125416.1).
