Sun Fire X4450 LEDs

The Sun Fire X4450 server provides the following LED groupings:

Front Panel LEDs
Rear Panel LEDs
Internal LEDs

Sun Fire X4450 Front Panel LEDs



Three of the front panel LEDs are located on the left hand side of the front panel along side HDD0 and HDD1. The other three LEDs are located on the right hand side of the front panel along side of the DVD drive and HDD7. These LEDs provide a quick visual check on the state of the system.

LED Name LED Color Description
Locator LED and Locator button
White Enables you to identify a particular server. The LED is controlled using one of the following methods:
  • Issuing the setlocator on or off command
  • Using the Solaris OS command: locator -n (to turn on) or -f (to turn off).
This LED provides the following indications:
  • Off - Normal operating state.
  • Fast Blink - The server received a signal as a result of one of the preceding methods and is indicating here I am - and that it is operational.
Service Action Required LED Amber The service required LED will illuminate when any of the following conditions occur:
  • A fault is detected by the system diagnostics, such as POST
  • When a FRU fails, such as a power supply
Power/OK LED Off The system is unavailable. System power might be off or simply disconnected.
Green - Steady On Normal Operating State
Green - Slow Blink Indicates that the system is in SUSPEND mode.
Power on/off Button Turns the system on and off. This button is recessed to prevent accidental server power-off. There is no Power On/Off button on the rear panel.
Fan Module Service LED Amber The fan module is faulty. The front and rear panel Service required LEDs are also lit if the system detects a fan module fault.
Power Supply Service Required LED Amber The power supply is faulty. The front and rear panel Service Required LED are also lit if the system detects a power supply fault.
System Overtemperature LED Amber The system is over heating.

 

Sun Fire X4450 Rear Panel LEDs

LED Name Description
PSU OK to Remove (Blue) A power supply can be removed safely during a hot-swap operation
PSU AC Present (Green) The power supply is plugged in and AC power is available, regardless of the system power state
Power Supply Service Required LED Reference Front Panel Power Supply Service Required LED listed above
Locator LED/ Locator button Reference Front Panel Locator LED/button listed above
Service Action Required LED Reference Front Panel Service Required LED listed above
Power/OK LED Reference Front Panel Power OK LED listed above

 

Sun Fire X4450 Internal LEDs

LED Name Description
Fan Module Service Required (Amber) The fan module is faulty. The front and rear panel Service Required LEDs are also lit if the system detects a fan module fault.
Fan Module Power/OK LED (Green) The system is powered on and the fan module is functioning correctly.

LED Name Description
Memory Fault LED (Amber) The memory DIMM adjacent to the lit LED is faulty.
