ETL 4/1800 Operator's Guide - vendor number: 6211122 (This manual is
not available through Sun except as part
			       of the ETL Service Kit)

565-1395-02	ETL Service Kit

805-1035-10	Sun Enterprise Tape Library 7/3500 Operator's Guide
Issue Description:
The ETL 4/1800 and ETL 7/3500 have temperature sensors that are
programmed by the vendor (ATL) for the proper temperature threshold.
Some units have been shipped with sensors that were not programmed. If
one of these units has temperature detection enabled (default is
disabled), an over temperature error will occur immediately and the
unit will shut down. Over temperature detection is enabled through the
GUI control panel.

The sense code for over temperature is 8801. A complete list of sense
codes can be found at the end of the video training guide
(vt_guide.pdf) on the CDROM (704-5684-03) in the ETL service kit
(565-1395-02).

The vendor has agreed to replace ALL the unprogrammed sensors at the
customer's site at NO CHARGE to Sun or the customer. Units still in
Sun's inventory will have the sensors replaced.
Corrective Action:
Contact the local ATL service provider to arrange for installation of
the sensor. There will be no charge to Sun. If you do not know how to
contact your local ATL service provider, in the US call: 800-284-5101
or international call: 1-714-477-7924

Parts are provided by the vendor and are not available through
SunService Logistics.
Comments:
If you receive one of the units listed above, you can test the sensor
by enabling over temperature detection through the GUI (refer to the
Configuring Library Options section of the Operator's Manual). If the
sensor is defective, an immediate error will occur and the unit will
shut down.

The process problem at the vendor has been corrected. All future
shipments of ANY ETL 4/1000, ETL 4/1800, and ETL 7/3500 will have over
temperature detection enabled when shipped from the factory.
