PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:

Engineering has released a UPA bus terminator module for Ultra 2 model
1300 single processor configured systems. This terminator minimizes
UPA bus signal distortion on Ultra 2 Model 1300 motherboards, P/N
501-3132-12 or lower. An unterminated UPA bus may exhibit noise
problems in very high intensity UPA bus activity applications.
s may include CPU ECache data parity errors, ECC errors, async data errors or hangs. Option X1192A is NOT structured with this terminator and problems may occur in single CPU Ultra 2 Model 1300 system if the terminator is NOT installed. The intention for Option X1192A is for adding a second CPU to an existing system, NOT for CPU upgrades in uni- processor systems. Subsequently customers who order the Option X1192A as opposed to the Upgrade kit UG-M1XXX-M1300, and exhibit the UPA bus signal distortion symptoms, contact SunService logistics and request the UPA bus terminator module, Thus SunSerice Logistics is experiencing a heavy demand for UPA bus terminators.

Corrective Action:
Information only, no action required. UPA bus terminator modules (PN
501-4843-01) are being shipped with Ultra 2 300Mhz CPU upgrades.
Customers seeking to obtain a Terminator module due to an incorrect
X-Option order, should contact their Sales Representative to obtain
one, and NOT request a Terminator module through SunService Logistics
channels.
