Issue Description: 
Certain Sun Fire 3800/4800/4810/6800, Sun Fire 12K/15K, Sun Fire V1280 and 
Netra 1280 System Boards manufactured with a specific SRAM may be vulnerable 
to component weakness resulting in potential system interrupts due to L2 SRAM 
Uncorrectable Errors (UEs).

This issue only occurs within a subset of total SRAM supply and not all SRAM 
are impacted. The probability of a system being affected by this issue is 
dependent on the amount of SRAM contained within the system. This, in turn, is 
dependent on the number of CPUs within the system. 

Should the described issue occur, Sun Fire 3800/4800/4810/6800, Sun Fire 
12K/15K, Sun Fire V1280, and Netra 1280 systems may experience messages 
similar to the following:

    Error 0x71 (Syndrome 0x71)
    L2 cache UE events (WDU,CPU,EDU,UCU)
      
    
Identifying Affected Systems
----------------------------
   Suspect SRAM components may have shipped in the affected platforms 
   during the period from August 2001 to August 10, 2004.

   It is not possible to know in advance which systems may contain 
   suspect SRAM components.  A System Board SRAM Look-Up Tool has been 
   created to aid in this identification.  It can be downloaded from:

   Determining if a system contains boards at risk is a two step process. 
   This consists of FRUID collection followed by FRUID analysis.  
   The latest details for this process can be viewed at the "onestop" 
   URL above.  

This issue has been root caused as component weakness in a specific group of 
SRAM components supplied by one vendor.  These SRAM may fail at a higher rate 
than would normally be expected.

The SRAM component was susceptible to a soft "latch up" condition due to the 
design of the SRAM cell array and the particular manufacturing process.  Soft 
latch up may contribute to L2 cache SRAM UEs.  To correct the issue, the 
supplier made changes to their manufacturing process. 

The issue has been addressed in Sun Manufacturing by cutting in known good SRAM
components as of August 10, 2004.  Systems or System Board replacements shipped
after this date are not impacted.  DPCOs 471 and 451.D address this issue at 
the repair depots.

Corrective Action: 
Note  There will initially be a limited supply of remedial parts for this 
****  FCO.  The early release of the FCO will allow account teams to begin
      collecting data on impacted systems and to move current CIC work
      into the FCO process.  Please work with your Time Zone FCO 
      Representative to determine material availability and to prioritize
      customer remediation.

   This process should be followed to ensure a coordinated approach for
   identifying affected systems, prioritizing customers, and tracking

2) After an affected system has been identified, replace System Boards
   containing suspect SRAM components.  The System Board SRAM Lookup Tool 
   will identify which System Boards are affected and will translate an
   installed board part number into one of the following FRUs.

Acceptable replacement FRUs will either be at a specific dash revision,
or will have a DPCO 471 or 451.D label, or will have a 559 prefix to the
part number.  The 559 part numbers were created especially for this FCO.

Implementation Notes
--------------------

In case of "Mandatory" FCOs, Sun Services will attempt to contact
all known customers to recommend proactive implementation.

For "Controlled Proactive" FCOs, Sun Services mission critical
support teams will initiate proactive implementation efforts for
their respective accounts, as required.

For "Upon Failure" FCOs, Sun Services and partners will implement
the necessary corrective actions as the need arises.

The CIC process must be used for proactive hardware replacement
requests when an FCO is classified as "Upon Failure".


Billing Information
-------------------

Warranty: Sun will provide parts at no charge under Warranty
          Service.  On-Site Labor Rates are based on specified
          Warranty deliverables for the affected product.

Contract: Sun will provide parts at no charge.  On-Site Labor Rates
          are based on the type of service contract.

Non Contract: Sun will provide parts at no charge.  Installation by
              Sun is available based on the On-Site Labor Rates
              defined in the Price List.
