Issue Description:
Early shipments of Sun Blade 1500 systems contain front and rear fans that
are at a slightly higher risk of early life failures (approximately 1 year).
The failure mode is that a fan would not come on, but this may not be noticed
immediately since these fans only come on when system cooling is required.
Product quality data indicates that there have been no failures in the
field to date.
Root cause determined that a small number of fans failed in test due to
capacitor placement inside the fan circuit, which caused current flow inside
the fan to exceed the maximum current rating. The fan internal circuitry was
redesigned to address this situation.
Corrective action was put in place within Manufacturing by dash rolling the
fan part numbers 370-5679 and 370-5680 to -02 via ECO# WO_27564 as of
September 16, 2003. Therefore only systems shipped prior to this date
are affected. Corrective action was put in place within Sun Services
by the release of LEAP# 1534 as of September 30, 2003.

(CRUs) and are designed to be replaced by the user.
Corrective Action:
Replace BOTH fans as follows:
FRONT FAN 370-5679-01 with 370-5679-02 (or above)
REAR FAN 370-5680-01 with 370-5680-02 (or above)
Comments:
These fans are consumable and do not need to be returned.
