--------------

The Sunfire 3800 with a CompactPCI I/O Assembly installed may not correctly
respond to system commands required for dynamic reconfiguration and hot
swapping of individual cards.

The root cause was determined to be a false pulse problem with the PCI SERR_L
signal and interrupt signals for 3.3VIO CompactPCI slots (#0 & #1) during
resets, power-on and hotswap insertions.

To Identify this problem online follow the instructions below;

In ScApp versions 5.11.X or 5.12.5 no identification of the cPCI I/O Assembly
(Sun p/n 540-4591-02) is possible. With ScApp version 5.12.6 or higher the
Sun Fire 3800 prints out warning messages when a 540-4591-02 cPCI I/O
Assembly
is in the system.

 1. Visually inspect for affected cPCI I/O Assembly (540-4591-02) by looking
    for purple ejectors. A good cPCI I/O Assembly (540-4591-03) will have
    white markings on the purple ejectors, which indicate to unscrew the four
    locking screws of the cPCI assembly before using the ejectors. Reference
    the following URL for a picture of the ejectors;

        http://sdpsweb.Ebay/FIN_FCO/FCO/FCO_A0190-1_Dir/ejector.JPG

 2. If cPCI cards are inserted into a 540-4591-02 cPCI I/O Assembly the
    card will NOT power-on. To get the card recognized and powered on
    the Operating System has to be rebooted or a reset at OBP level must
    be performed.

 3. Once the customer has upgraded to ScApp version 5.12.6, which supports
    dynamic reconfiguration and hot swapping of cPCI cards, warning messages
    are printed indicating that the cPCI I/O Assembly doesn't support the
    hotswapping of cPCI cards.

    During POST a 540-4591-02 cPCI I/O Assembly is indicated by :
