Troubleshooting Details

domain_link reports IDN_NWR_SIZE conflicts with domain id X

Check the value of idn-smr-size in the eeprom image of all domains that are using IDN. This value must be the same across all domains.
Also, consult the Sun Enterprise 10000 IDN Error Messages Guide located at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E19065-01/servers.10k/806-5231-10/806-5231-10.pdf

domain_link reports IDN state NOT SUPPORTED

Something similar to the following is reported:
ssp0:domain1% domain_link domain1 domain2
domain_link: ...Checking IDN state of domain1 : NOT SUPPORTED
domain_link: ...Checking IDN state of domain2 : READY
Assuming the OS of the domain meets the requirements for IDN, and the IDN packages are installed...

  • Ensure idn-smr-size is set in OBP to the same value in all domains being linked.
  • Check that the idn driver is loaded using modinfo | grep idn.

When the driver loads it sets a "cookie" in BBSRAM of the bootproc. domain_link examines the BBSRAM and if the cookie is not found the domain is tagged as NOT SUPPORTED. ifconfig'ing the idn interface will automatically load the driver.
