The steps below will help to understand some of the common problems that occur when cabling 33x0 arrays.

Troubleshooting Steps:

Note: Even though the following links appear to be the same they are not, they point to different sections and chapters in the manuals that cover proper cabling of the arrays.

Sun Cluster 3.1 - 3.2 With Sun StorEdge 3310 or 3320 SCSI RAID Array Manual for Solaris OS
  1. Check I/O Module LEDs for any clues:

    33x0:

Section 6.1 :  Sun StorEdge 3000 Family Installation, Operation, and Service Manual, Sun StorEdge 3310 SCSI Array.

    3120 :

Section 6.1: Sun StorEdge 3000 Family Installation, Operation, and Service Manual, Sun StorEdge 3120 SCSI Array.

  2. Physically inspect cables for any bent pins or damaged cables.  If hardware problems are encountered with the cables, replace as needed.  Reference supported cable type links in earlier step for part numbers.

  3. If connecting a 3310 array to an Ultra320 HBA please reference  Resolving SCSI bus reset & transport errors on Sun StorEdge[TM] 3310 SCSI array with Ultra320 SCSI HBA.

  1. If no problems found during the course of this document please refer back to :   Troubleshooting Sun StorEdge[TM] 33x0/351x Hardware .
