Solution

Attached are the field bill instructions for adding a drive bay that should answer your questions.  Arrays and cartridges will need to be removed from the location of the new drive bay.

This installation can be installed on either the Base Drive Module (BDM) or Drive Expansion Module (DEM).  This C/B can only be installed into bay location starting from the 2nd bay location and lower.  Empty bay areas are not allowed between bays. Each frame (BDM, DEM) has a single 8 bay drive array installed.  The BDM can accept 2 additional drive array C/B’s, while the DEM can accept 3 additional drive arrays.

NOTE: The upgrade is disruptive.
