FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
Faulty DVD

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution.
The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown.

Then power down the system and disconnect the Power Cord.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

1. Powering off the system
2. Removing the front bezel
3. Removing the removable media drive
4. Sliding the server out of the cabinet
5. Removing the top cover
6. Removing a fan tray
7. Removing the multilane data cable connector board
8. Removing a CPU/Memory module
9. Removing a PCI card
10.Removing the CPU/memory module bracket
11.Remove the captive screw securing the DVD backplane to the removable media drive bay
12.Disconnect the DVD data cable at J6101 on the motherboard
13.Lift the DVD backplane up and out of the system
14.Secure the DVD backplane to the removable media drive bay using the captive Phillips screw
15.Connect the DVD cable into J6101 on the motherboard
16.Installing the CPU/memory module bracket
17.Installing a PCI card
18.Installing a CPU/Memory module
19.Installing the multilane data cable connector board
20.Installing a fan tray
21.Installing the top cover
22.Sliding the server out of the cabinet
23.Installing the removable media drive
24.Installing the front bezel
25.Powering on the system

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
