PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
Faulty HBA Card

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution.
The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

1. Power off the server
2. Remove the rear cover
3. Disconnect any external cables attached to the faceplate and any internal cables connected to the PCI card internal connectors
4. Release the latch securing the PCI card to the chassis
5. Pull the PCI card from its slot
Removal of a long PCI card might require you to remove the air baffle
6. Place the PCI card on an antistatic mat
7. Installation is the reverse of this procedure

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:

Boot and check for full functionality
Changing a HBA with an embedded WWN may require SAN re-configuration
