Goal

How to Replace the Sun Blade X6250 Fabric Expansion Module.

Solution

DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS

WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:(IS A SITE ENGINEER AVAILABLE?)

This component is a CRU and can be replaced by anyone.

DELIVERY REQUIREMENT:

This operation requires a complete power outage of the entire machine.

Estimate AP Duration = 0.75 hours

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

Shut down the server

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

1.- Power off the server and remove the server module from the chassis.

2.- Remove the main cover.

3.- Remove the protective cap from the fabric expansion module connector.

4.- Position the fabric expansion module (connector side down) over the fabric expansion module connector on the motherboard, and insert the (opposite) edge of the fabric expansion module into the slots on the center support bracket.

5.- Gently press the connector on the underside of the module onto the connector on the motherboard, until the edge of the board is secured by the ejector clip on the left-side support bracket.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:

Restart the server

No parts needed.
