FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
Failed or expired battery in SAS RAID Card

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :
Data backup not required but recommended as a precaution
Orderly shutdown of applications
Shutdown of OS and power down of server

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
Ensure standard ESD procedures are followed

1. Power off the server and unplug (REMOVE) the power cords
2. Remove the top cover
3. Remove the PCI riser board that contains the SAS RAID HBA and remove the PCI card from the riser
4. Remove the 3 plastic screws on the underside of the card and their respective nuts on the top side that hold the backup battery in place
5. Gently remove the backup battery module from it's connector on the card
6. Install the replacement battery module by aligning the connectors on the card and backup battery module. Gently press down until the connectors click.
7. Install the 3 screws and their nuts to secure the backup battery module
8. Install the PCI card back into it's riser and install the riser board back into it's slot on the motherboard
9. Replace the top cover
10. Re-attach the power cords

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
