*FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS*

PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
Faulty XFP

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution.
The customer is not required to perform a system shutdown.

Engineer must confirm with the customer that it is understood that an ethernet connection running on the XFP will be stopped/interrupted or lost
A reboot mat be required to restore full functionality

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

An XFP is a hot replace FRU
A working ethernet connection running on the XFP will be broken

1. Remove fibre cable from XFP
2. Replace XFP
3. Refit fibre cable to XFP

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:

Check that link is up and functioning
Reboot may be required to fully repair the ethernet connection
