Goal

How to Collect Log Snapshot From SL8500 or SL3000 Library.

Solution

Codes SL8500 4.14, SL3000 2.30 and above, introduced a new feature...
Log Snapshot.

This allows the service engineer to save all logs on the SL8500 including the highly detailed engineering logs.
Please take a log Snapshot as soon as possible, before rebooting or resetting any hardware as it only takes minutes to do and can be of exceptional value to engineering in customer problem resolution.
The field can also use “log snapshot server” to decrypt some of the files but the primary use of this tool is the acquisition of the low level engineering logs at the time of failure..

A quick “how to do it.......”

The “Log snapshot all” command can be issued via TCP/IP port using:
“SSH Console” or a “putty” session and also via the serial CLI port .
This file must be collected from the SL8500 within 10 minutes of being created, by using SLConsole (4.40) or “SSH Console.” (IP connection).
Note: 10 minutes after the snapshot “completed” message is seen, the collected files are deleted from memory.

Refer to the attached document for complete information on how to pull Log Snapshot.
