Solution

1. Obtain VTL Appliance Network Information
   Contact your network administrator to obtain the following:
   • IP address
   • Netmask
   • Default gateway
   • Primary name server information.
   
   
2. Login to each VTL node using the VTL Console, and do the following:
   
• Collect Xray data from both nodes
• Take a screenshot of the the VTL console 'Failover Information' tab.
  
  
3. Remove failover from primary node
   
   • On the primary node (e.g., the node that failover was configured on, normally node1), right click on the node in the console and select 'Remove Failover Server' from the 'Failover' menu.
   • Verify failover is completely removed from both nodes ('Failover Informaiton' tab should be gone, may require closing and reconnecting to Console)
     
     
4. Make network changes to each node
   
   • In VTL Console, select VTL server name, right click, and select System
             Maintenance --> Network Configuration
             (or select System Maintenance --> Set Hostname to change hostname)
   
   • Reboot to verify changes are retained
     
   
   Refer to the following documents for the network and hostname configuration to determine where in the GUI to make these changes:
   
   • VTL Plus 2.0 User Guide sections "Setup network" and "Set hostname"

   • VTL Prime Solaris Software Configuration Guide sections "Managing Network Connectivity for configuring LAN connections" and "Setting VTL server node hostname"
     
   
   
5. Reconfigure failover
   
   • On primary node, run the 'Failover Setup Wizard' from the 'Failover' menu, including both the private and public network interfaces as failover targets.
   
   
6. Reboot both nodes and ensure failover starts automatically and is in a known, good state after the reboot.
   
   
7. Test failover by manually failover/failback each node to the other
   • Right click on server name and select Failover--> Start Takeover
     
   • Once failover is completed successfully, right click on server name and select Failover--> Stop Takeover
   • Repeat on other server
