Goal

Process to acquire the Error Warn Info Event Log from SL Console.

Solution

Please utilize the following process to gather the necessary troubleshooting logs from the SL500, SL3000 and SL8500 using StorageTek Library Console (SLC) software.

Note:

SL Console must be installed on the Server or attached PC to pull the log information.

  • Log into the library using the StorageTek Library Console (SLC) software.

  • Click on Tools and then Reports to navigate to the library reports.

  • Expand the Logs section by clicking on the folder labeled Logs.

  • Click on Eventlog – Error Warn Info. The log will display in the right hand window. Note: The log will not display immediately. SLC will process the log for a few seconds before displaying it.

  • Click the Save button in the upper right hand corner to save the file as a .txt file for investigation by the Oracle tape support team.

Note:

Refer to attachment to see example of the SL Console screen.

Once the file has been acquired, it should be attached to the active SR (Service Request) in MOS (My Oracle Support).  To do this:

      - Click on the "Data Analysis" tab on the right side of the SR.

      - A window opens up below the SR header information.  Click on the "Upload a File" tab.

      - Do a browse for the saved file, select it and click the "Upload File" tab.

This will place the file into the SR under the "Attachment" tab on the left side of the SR.
