Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

This document is intended to provide block size limit for hardware compression in Oracle VTL servers to field support and customers.

Solution

Steps to Follow
Max block size for HiFN hardware compression card is 512KB.
512 KB is the default max size but it is configurable via the driver conf file.


Internal Comments
Contact VTL Backline Support if the block size needs to be changed.

Information below is for Backline support, the Hifn driver conf file should
only be updated at the direction of VTL Backline support or Oracle-Sun VTL
engineering.

To change the default max block size, edit /usr/kernel/drv/h9630vtl_drv.conf changing the following @parameter:
