Solution

Steps to Follow
Refer to the attached document for complete instructions on how to upgrade SL500 microcode.  Always use the latest level of firmware release notes in case changes have been made from the information below.

Cautions:

1. If the RLC card has the newer flash part you will not be able to downgrade from 1200 code. If the RLC card has the older flash part then downgrade below 1200 code is possible, but the flash operation will take an additional 20 minutes (30 minutes total). Up leveling the code will take 5 minutes longer (15 minutes total). Failure to wait for the flash operation to complete will result in damage to the RLC card and the RLC card will no longer be usable.
The newer RLC part number is 419940201.  The old part number is 313906413. The part numbers can be located on the RLC card.

2. If the robot contains the newer EV15 scanner, robot hardware revision level 004, then only 1200 code or above will work in the library. The new Robot assembly with the EV15 scanner has the part number 419946801 or higher.

3. Again: Do not reboot or power-cycle the library prematurely during the code download or installation process as it will permanently damage the controller (RLC) card, necessitating a return of the card to the factory.

4. The SL500 1200 code is not compatible with the RLW SCSI LVD interface card. If installed with 1200 code the blue RLW EJECT OK LED will stay illuminated and the SCSI interface will not be recognized on the SCSI buss.
Upgrade to 1201 or higher code if an RLW SCSI LVD interface card is to be used.
