Goal

Description
SL500 Hardware Upgrades and Firmware Version 1300
For SL500 Library upgrades, the Service recommendation is to complete all hardware upgrades with the current level of FW prior to upgrading to v1300.
Only hardware that comes from the factory with v1300 code or later will require SILKS license keys to be installed.
License keys received for hardware shipped from the factory with 1235 code or lower should be discarded.

Solution

Steps to Follow
Upgrade Details:
For those machines already in the field, the SL500 upgrades to code v1300 will preserve the existing hardware configuration, to include the established capacity and features.
A CLI method of installing licenses is documented in the v1300 Code Installation instructions if SLC is not available.

Currently, only slot Capacity and Partitioning require license keys and license keys have no expiration.

Partitioning license only grants the ability to set partitions.

SL500 uses multiple, incremental licenses for capacity.

Slot capacity licensing must be contiguous. i.e. the Base must be fully licensed before recognizing licenses in the next lower module.

Order of license installation does not matter.

Drives are not licensed.

Refer to the attached file for detailed instructions on using SILKs with V1300 code.
