Goal

Description

The build level of each node in the backup Environment must be in same level to avoid the backup related Issues. Patch 116826-03 has been applied to all the nodes in the backup Environment but still few nodes have the mismatch build level, this has been noticed even after stop and restarting of both legato networker Server and clients.

Scenario

Hostname Functionality
Backup3 ? Backup server
hydcs3 ? Backup Node
Hydcs3bkp ? Backup Node

Steps to Follow
Configuration

Solaris[TM] 8 Operating System
Legato Networker
L100 tape Library with 4*SDLT 320 drives
Sanbox2, SAN 4.4.2

Solution

Resolution
Make sure no backups are running or scheduled at the time of following the steps below.
-stop and restart the backup client after applying the patches.
-Initiate the backup from the client or from the server
-Delete the client and recreate if required.
Steps in details
1.Stop networker daemons on the Storage nodes.
2.Stop the networker daemons on Backup server.
3.Check for the nsr process using ps ?eaf|grep ?i nsr
4.If you find any nsr related process then kill -9
5.Make sure L100 and all the drives are ready
6.Check the device files for all the drives.
7.If required configure all the drives using cfgadm and devfsadm
8.After making sure all the devices are visible and the status are shown fine start the backupserver.
9.Start the storage nodes.(Networker)
10.Perform the re-inventory check using legato commands nsrjb if required.
11.Verify the Build Level from backup server (Backup3) as follows,
# cd  /nsr/res/nsrdb
# grep -i version */*
the actual ouput is :
00/005a2531418bf4ba0a1f2053:NetWorker version:;
02/0016222a418b59b10a1f2053:NetWorker version: 7.1.2.Build.325;
04/00401cfa416c2ef50a1f2053:NetWorker version: 7.1.2.Build.325;
07/001b2eff416eca5f0a1f2053:NetWorker version: 7.1.Build.230;  <-----it is hydcs3bkp
12. If you find Built level has not been updated then you have to remove the backup client and recreate
13. Initialize the backup from the server or from the client.
14. Now Verify the Build Level from backup server (Backup3)
Follow the steps below in verifying the Build Level
# cd  /nsr/res/nsrdb
# grep -i version */*
the actual ouput as follows after following the above steps
00/005a2531418bf4ba0a1f2053:NetWorker version:;
02/0016222a418b59b10a1f2053:NetWorker version: 7.1.2.Build.325;
04/00401cfa416c2ef50a1f2053:NetWorker version: 7.1.2.Build.325;
Additional Information:
nsrjb ? Legato command used to perform the Jukebox Inventory.
nsrdb- it is a nsr database where the backup client information are stored
