Description
This document lists the host target address assignments for each Box ID in a hub or daisy-chained configuration. The Box ID, on which the target address is based, is set on the Front Panel Module (FPM). Not all the 127 allowable device addresses per loop are used.

Steps to Follow
Sun StorEdge[TM] A5x00 array: Internal Addressing

Target assignments for the A5000/A5100 array

Box ID Front Drives Rear Drives
0 t0-t6 t16-t22
1 t32-t38 t48-t54
2 t64-t70 t80-t86
3 t96-t102 t112-t118

Target assignments for the A5200 array

Box ID Front Drives Rear Drives
0 t0-t10 t16-t26
1 t32-t42 t48-t58
2 t64-t74 t80-t90
3 t96-t106 t112-t122

The formula used to calculate the target numbers is:

(BoxID x 32) + (Backplane# x 16) + (Disk Slot #) = Target ID

In this formula,

  • The 'Backplane#' is:
    • 0: Front of the array
    • 1: Back/Rear of the array
  • The '(Disk Slot #)' is:
    • A5000/A5100 front and rear disk slot #:
Slots 0 thru 6 (left to right)
    • A5200 front and rear disk slot #:
Slots 0 thru 10 (left to right)
