Description
Sun Fire[TM] V440 and Netra[TM] 440 systems using a specific networking configuration may unexpectedly reset. This document will show users how to verify the system board Part Number and Dash level using Solaris[TM] commands and ALOM commands.

Steps to Follow
The fix for the unexpected resets using specific network configurations
is coming from a new system board, and also Engineering Change Order (ECO)
to the existing system board. Once these boards are available, customer's
will want to know how they can verify if their system requires a system
board replacement.
The affected system board has a part number: 501-6344 with
DASH level of 09 and below, the DASH 10 will already have the fix. The
new system board will have part number: 501-6910 DASH LEVEL 01.
From Solaris execute the following command:
# prtfru -x | more
<Container name="system-board">
<ContainerData>
<Segment name="SD">
<ManR>
<UNIX_Timestamp32 value="Sat Jun 28 18:32:10 EDT 2003"/>
<Fru_Description value="ASSY,A42,MOTHERBOARD"/>
<Manufacture_Loc value="Toronto, Ontario, Canada"/>
<Sun_Part_No value="5016344"/> <-- SYSTEM BOARD PART NUMBER
<Sun_Serial_No value="006026"/>
<Vendor_Name value="Celestica"/>
<Initial_HW_Dash_Level value="06"/> <-- DASH LEVEL
<Initial_HW_Rev_Level value="50"/>
<Fru_Shortname value="A42_MB"/>
</ManR>
<SpecPartNo value="885-0060-08"/>
From the Advanced Lights Out Management prompt (sc>):
NOTE: You'll need to be in a window that scrolls, you can not stop
the output at the ALOM prompt.
