Description
Physical tape eject
Physical tape management
Are physical tapes ejected when backup application ejects VTL virtual tape
VTL
Under what VTL conditions does the physical tape get ejected

Steps to Follow
There are specific conditions that need to be met, before the physical tape eject will happen via backup software commands:
1) Tape caching enabled
2) Virtual tape migrated to physical tape
3) Data not in disk cache
OR
VTL "Direct access" mode
OR
VTL "Auto archive" function (export function).

Any other conditions do not manage the physical tape (i.e., if data is still in disk cache). Ejecting physical tape would be a manual process.

See VTL Users Guide for details on above options/functions. Online manuals can be viewed Sun-STK Customer Resource Center website (refer to Knowledgebase article STKKB41651( Document Unavailable) for details on online manuals).
