Goal

How to trouble shoot power failure:

Internal power loss

Internal power failure

Power missing

Solution

Resolution
There are five power grids in the SL8500 Library:

1. Standard AC power grid (N+1 configuration).

2. Optional second (redundant) AC power grid - 2N configuration.

3. DC power grid for tape drive bus operation.

4. DC power grid for HandBot bus operation.

5. DC power grid for customer interface module components (elevator, turntables, service safety door, OP Panel and CAPs).

If the effected areas are contained within the above identified DC grids (items 3, 4, or 5), suspect the controlling power supplies are failing.

DC power grid for TAPE DRIVE bus operation contains the following DC power supplies:

WITH N+1 POWER - 1,2,3,4,7,8,13,14,19,20.

WITH 2N POWER - 1,2,3,4,7,8,9,10,13,14,15,16,19,20,21,22.

DC power grid for HandBot bus operations contains the following DC power supplies:

WITH N+1 POWER - 5,6,11,12,17,18.

WITH 2N POWER - 5,6,11,12,17,18,23,24.

DC power grid for CUSTOMER INTERFACE MODULE bus operation contains the following DC power supplies:

WITH N+1 POWER - 25, 26.

WITH 2N POWER - 25, 26.
