Goal

Activation Password Request for OTP (One Time Password) on SL libraries.

Solution

Steps to Follow
Activation Password Request for SLxxxx libraries
Use the procedure below to obtain a One Time Password:

If you do not see the option for "Activation Passwords" after you login to the site, your access permission to the password database may not have transferred correctly from the CRC.  If that is the case, you need to open a ServiceDesk ticket (search on OTP) and make the request.

In the interim, you can contact Tape Hardware Support to access the password site or open a ticket with support.

Go to the following site on SWAN for One Time Passwords:

http://crcapplications.central.sun.com/keyswebapp/

Click on "Activation Passwords" and you will go to the next screen titled, OTP Request.
If you do not see the "Activation Passwords" link, please read the top of this entry.

Fill in the required Data:

1.  The "CRC Login ID" request is WRONG !  This form requires your Sun ID in the form of "rk123456" not a 5+1+1 ID.

2.  Site ID -  fill in a value, cannot be blank.

3.  Case - Fill in a value, cannot be blank.

4.  Role - Select admin or service

5.  S/N - Enter full 12 digit S/N for you machine.
     516000yyyxxx for SL8500.
     571000yyyxxx for SL3000.
     522/533/557/559000xxxxxx for SL500.

6.  Click SUBMIT

Once you have acquired the OTP, copy and send to person requesting the information.  Make sure the OTP is placed into the Service Request case.

Note:
As of May 15th, 2011 there will be an automated process which will email the "Admin Password" OTP (One Time Password) to the customer (upon purchase/delivery of the library).  This is the same OTP that is available for manual retrieval from inside Oracle's firewall.  As you know, this password is required to "complete" an installation of a SL8500/SL3000/SL500 library.  The reason why we are implementing this automated process is to fulfill revenue recognition requirements which will allow Oracle to book the revenue from the sale of a library more quickly (alternative is to receive confirmation of a successful installation which will cause revenue recognition delays).  You may receive inquiries from customers about the email they have received from Oracle (i.e. What do I do with this OTP? etc) and wanted to give you advanced notice that this process is being implemented.  No specific action is required at this time and this message serves as advanced notification of the process that will be implemented.

Note:
Contact Tape Hardware Support via MOS and refer to this Knowledge Solution for further assistance on setting up the SL8500 or SL500 Password as needed.
