Description
A dedicated, fully-functional network connection is required between the NAS File Replication master (source) NAS server and the target (mirror) NAS server.

Any operational issues with the 'mirror network' will directly affect the functioning of the mirror process.
This document provides troubleshooting steps to verify correct operation of the 'mirror network'.

Steps to Follow
Verifying Sun StorageTek[TM] NAS Replication Network Configuration

1. The NIC interface(s) used in replication on both the master (source) and mirror (target) NAS systems must be designated as MIRROR

NOTE: It is strongly recommended that the NICs used for NAS replication be configured on a private network.

2. Check for network connectivity between the master and target NAS systems

- Attempt to contact local 'mirroring' network I/F (ie. mirror interface of master system);

   SE5310 > ping <IP-ADDRESS_of_LOCAL_INTERFACE>

-Attempt to contact remote 'mirroring' network I/F (ie. mirror interface of target system)

   SE5310 > ping <IP-ADDRESS_of_REMOTE_INTERFACE>

If the local ping fails, check for mis-configuration of network settings and/or investigate hardware failure of local NIC.

If the remote ping fails, check interconnect cabling. (Also, perform 'local NIC ping' on the remote (target) system to check remote NIC hardware)

If both of the above commands are successful, the mirror network is functional.

3. Check that NIC speed and Duplex setting is correct and that the link is UP

   SE5310 > em show all
emc1: 100Mb/s FULL-DUPLEX, Link is UP
emc2: 100Mb/s FULL-DUPLEX, Link is UP
