Description

A SIM is reported to the SVP, yet Storage Navigator does not list the SIM.

Steps to Follow

SVP = Service Processor
SIM = System Information Message

In order for a SIM to be sent to Storage Navigator, it has to be deemed as "reported to the host". In other words, there will be some SIMs (on the SVP) that WILL NOT be seen via Storage Navigator.

(Reference: TagmaStore USP Storage Navigator User?s Guide, MK-94RD206-01, section 3.1.3 Storage Navigator Main Panel, Status Tab. 9900V Remote Console Storage Navigator User's Guide, MK-92RD101-13, section 3.1.2 Storage Navigator Main Panel, Status Tab. See the Note after the first paragraph in the section.)

To find out which SIMS are/are not reported to the host, see the 9985, 9900V and 9990 SIM RC Maintenance Manual.

Section 2.2 lists the "SIM Reference Codes detected by the SVP". Take a look at the "host report" column. If it says "no", then the SIM will not
be seen by Storage Navigator.

Internal Comments
This is documented similarly on the HDS ChannelOne website, Solution ID HDS43171. However, I've seen it discussed enough on the bigfish alias often enough that an info doc. is necessary.
This was illustrated in ESC 1-7516747.
