Description
You can back up and restore your controller-dependent
configuration information. Use this function to save configuration
information whenever a configuration change is made.
The logical configuration information is stored within the logical drive.

Note: A logical drive must exist for the controller to write NVRAM content
onto it.

Steps to Follow
You must telnet or tip to the array first.
SAVING THE NVRAM CONFIGURATION
From a Tip Session On the Firmware Menu
--------------------------------------------------------
1. Choose >system Functions> controller maintenance> save NVRAM to disks.
A confirmation dialog box appears.
2. Choose Yes to confirm.
A prompt confirms that the NVRAM information has been successfully
saved.
Using sccli Software
--------------------------------------------------------
The "upload nvram" command saves the NVRAM configuration to a host file:
sccli> upload nvram <file>
If you save a configuration file and want to apply the same
configuration to another array or reapply it to the array that had the
configuration originally, you must be certain that the channels and SCSI
IDs in the configuration file are correct for the array where you are
restoring the configuration.
The NVRAM configuration file restores all configuration settings (channel
settings, and host IDs) but does not rebuild logical drives.
Caution!  If the channels or SCIS IDs are not a correct match for the
array, you lose access to the mismatched channels or drives when you
restore the configuration with the configuration file.
RESTORING THE NVRAM CONFIGURATION
From a Tip Session on the Firmware Menu

1. Choose >system Functions>Controller maintenance>Restore nvram from
disks.
A confirmation message appears.
2. Press Yes to confirm.
A prompt notifies you that the controller NVRAM data has been
successfully restored from disks.
Using sccli Software
---------------------------------------------------------
The "download nvram" command restores the NVRAM configuration from
a NVRAM file on the host to the RAID controller:
sccli> download nvram <filename> -r  <-- the -r resets the array
controller after restoring NVRAM
Some firmware menu options have parameter settings that ARE SAVED
when you save the NVRAM controller configuration to disk.  The
following list includes those options:

In the Sun StorEdge[TM] Configuration Service program, you can save a
configuration file that can restore all configurations and rebuild all
logical drives.  However, using this method also erases all data
when the operation rebuilds all logical drives, so the operation is
performed only when no data has been stored or all data has
been transferred to another array.
SAVING THE LOGICAL DRIVE CONFIGURATION TO A BACKUP FILE
1. Select the controller with the configuration you want to save.
2. Choose Configuration > Save Configuration.
The Save Configuration window appears.
3. If necessary, navigate to the drive and folder where you want the
configuration file to be saved and save the file to a diskette
or to a drive external to the array.
4. Specify the configuration file name and click Save.
The Save Configuration window appears.
5. Enter a description of the configuration you are saving.
6. Click OK.
The controller configuration information is saved to a .cfg file.
RESTORING A LOGICAL DRIVE CONFIGURATION FROM A BACKUP FILE
1. Select the controller for the appropriate array.
2. Choose Configuration > Load Configuration.
The Select Configuration File window appears.
3. Specify the name and location of the backup configuration file and click
Open.
The Load Configuration window appears.
4. To see a tree-view representation of the configuration,
click the Configuration View tab.
The Saveset Description tab displays the description of the file that
was specified when the configuration file was created.
5. For the SCSI and FC arrays, if you want the logical drives to
be automatically labeled, which enables the operating system
to use the drive, click "Write a new label to the new LD."
6. To load the saved configuration, select OK.
The Load Configuration Confirmation window appears.
Carefully review the information presented in the Load Configuration
Confirmation window before making a decision to continue.
7. Click Apply to load the configuration or click Cancel to terminate
this function.
Clicking Apply causes the configuration operation to continue,
and a progress window appears.
Note:  Do not initialize logical unit numbers (LUNs) after restoring
the array configuration backup file contents.
