This document will describe how to enable and set up multiple serial consoles on the Netra[TM] ct400 and Netra[TM] ct800 systems on both Solaris[TM] 8 and Solaris[TM] 9 Operating Systems. This is for systems that use the CP1500 CPU card.

After installing the patches, reboot the system.

# shutdown -i 0

At OBP level,

2. Run the following 2 commands to enable multiplexor feature.

ok setenv input-device input-mux
ok setenv output-device output-mux

3. Reset the machine.

ok reset

4. Reboot the system.

ok boot -r

To disable the ttymux

1. To disable ttymux you need to be in alarm console (rsc prompt)

2. Type "reset" on the alarm console

3. Run the following 2 commands.

ok setenv input-device ttya
ok setenv output-device ttya

4. Reset the machine.

Note: When you install/upgrade the OS or backout this patch, you should DISABLE the ttymux before the OS installation/upgrade or the patch removal.

Comment: Got confirmation from Scott to go ahead and publish as contract doc.
Also, t takes a different set of patches for the 410/810, per Don's suggestion
so Scott will write another doc on them when he gets time.

Publishing doc.

Comment: Hi Robert,

I have 2 quick questions about doc ID 77722 before I publish.
1. Did you want to add in info on the Netra 410/810 per Don Palko's comments?
2. Is there any special reason why the audience for this document needs to be internal only?
Can it be available to customers? If so, I can adjust the audience setting to "free" or
"contract" customers, whatever you prefer.

Please email me your thoughts on these questions and then I'll publish
your document.

Thanks much,
nita
