Goal

This document illustrates what to look for if you receive the following message indicating a SES or PLD firmware mismatch.
sccli> show ses
Ch Id Chassis Vendor Product ID Rev PLD WWPN
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
2 124 SUN StorEdge 3510F A 1040 A000 204000C0FF000008

* indicates SES or PLD firmware mismatch.

Solution

Resolution

Based on the above output, you will need to upgrade your PLD firmware.
You can get the firmware for your particular array from My Oracle Support (MOS).

For the Sun StorEdge[TM] 3510 FC Array, you will need Patchid: 113723-21 (the latest).

For the Sun StorEdge[TM] 3511 SATA Array, you will need Patchid: 113724-12 (the latest).

Please search for Patch Name or Number specifying the full Patchid (ie: 113723-21),
under the Patches and Updates tab.

Follow the steps outlined in the patch readme.
Upgrade the Program Logic Device(PLD) firmware, which is responsible for
routing Fibre Channel traffic within the subsystem.
After the PLD firmware upgrade, which could take 5 minutes, log out of the
sccli.

sccli> quit

Then, log in again and run a show ses command, to verify there is no longer a
mis-match.
sccli> show ses
Ch Id Chassis Vendor Product ID Rev PLD WWPN
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
2 124 SUN StorEdge 3510F A 1040 1000 204000C0FF000008
3 124 SUN StorEdge 3510F A 1040 1000 204000C0FF000008

The PLD and SES firmware should be the same for both controllers.
