Goal

ICKDSF and Oracle Virtual Disk Storage Systems. Various occurrences of data checks and equipment checks require the usage of ICKDSF to release the bad tracks. Usually, the EQC or DCK is accompanied by FSC40C0 or FSC3C90.

Solution

Generally, these tracks will be cleaned up by freespace collection after the dataset containing the track has been deleted, if DDSR is active.

Only one 'golden' set of ICKDSF parameters will work to release the defective track images. An example of a job to release one track is included below.

Run the following job, where XXXXXX is the volser and X'CCCC',X'HHHH is the track.
