This procedure describes step by step how to reset the array password.

In some cases, it can occur that the array password is forgotten and the management host is not able to perform further configuration.
For instance when an array with a configured password is moved to another location where nobody knows the password.

Now a "Service Interface Main Menu" exists on the serial port of the array to manage IP and array password.

Solution

Before starting, please refer to the <Document 1012351.1> Passwords Associated with Sun Storage[TM] RAID Arrays to under the usefulness of the different passwords used on the arrays.

  1. Reset the Array Password on the array.

    1. Connect to the array through the serial port.

Refer to the Sun StorageTek[TM] 6140 Array Hardware Installation Guide.
Refer to the Sun StorageTek[TM] 6540 Array Hardware Installation Guide.
Refer to the Sun StorageTek[TM] 2500 Array Hardware Installation Guide.

Note: For the ST6130, the above Sun StorageTek[TM] 6140 Array Hardware Installation Guide can be used.

    2. Get into the "Service Interface Main Menu".

Note: For the ST6130, the "Service Interface Main Menu" is only available with the firmware 06.19.23.10 or higher. If you cannot upgrade the array firmware, contact the Oracle support.

      # /opt/SUNWstkcam/bin/sscs modify -a <arrayname> -q registeredarray

      Example:

      # /opt/SUNWstkcam/bin/sscs modify -a array_A -q registeredarray
Enter the array password: leave it blank
      Confirm password: leave it blank
