Description
This document describes the possible memory configs for a Sun Fire[TM] v40z

Steps to Follow
You will have to know whether this is a 2-way or 4-way customer system.
The V40z has 4 DIMM slots per CPU. The memory inserted in a DIMM slot
will be accessible only if the corresponding CPU is present. The V40z
will support Dual and Quad CPU configurations. Currently 2 GB DDR1/333
memory modules are qualified (4 GB modules will be in the future).
All that means that today a V40z with 2 installed AMD Opteron CPUs
supports up to 16 GB of memory (in 8 DIMM slots) and a V40z with 4
installed CPUs supports up to 32 GB of memory (in 16 DIMM slots
