Description
When using Sun Systems running Red Hat Linux to configure a Sun StorEdge[TM]3511 FC Array using a Qlogic Host Bus Adapter (HBA) (part# 5133A) you must not use auto-negotiate within the view/edit SCSI channels menu.

Use either 1GB or 2GB depending upon which card you use. Otherwise, the system will not see the array. If using the Sun supported Qlogic card part# 5133A, set the channel to 1 GB.

Steps to Follow
Testing was done in the lab with the following configuration and results:

Linux AS 3.0 with 1Gb(Qlogic) hba, to 3511.

Hba at 1Gb and 3511 at 1Gb channel 0 and 1 work fine.
Hba at 1Gb and 3511 at Auto, channel 0 and 1 work fine.
Hba at 1Gb and 3511 at 2Gb, there is no LUN present.

Note: Connecting the SATA RAID 3511 array to Fibre Channel HBAs on the same channel that uses different connection methods (1Gb and 2Gb) is not supported. You can, however, mix 1Gb and 2Gb FC HBAs on different channels (only channels 0 and 1 are capable of supporting 1Gb connections methods). This limitation is due to the design of the Raid Array's port bypass circuitry and the inability of Fibre Channel to support auto-negotiation in a multi-drop loop configuration.
