Sun StorageTek V2X SVA Disk System - Version: Not Applicable to Not Applicable   [Release: N/A to N/A]
Sun StorageTek VSM System - Version: 4 to 5C   [Release: 4.0 to 5.0]
All Platforms

Goal

Additional devices cannot be defined on the SVA/VSM. If the IXFP/SVAA software is being used to define volumes, then various error messages including SIB1168E, SIB1132E, and/or SIB1157E may be detected. If the operator panel is being used to define volumes, then FSC 3E9A may be noted.

Solution

EXPLANATION: The subsystem has reached the maximum number of cylinders for all functional devices or the maximum number of functional devices.

Either of the following limits is a subsystem restriction:

* The maximum number of functional devices (excluding 3390-9) is 1024.
* The maximum number of total cylinders for all functional devices is product
  model and microcode dependent. Refer to the SVA/VSM Planning manual for the product in question for details.

This restriction is due to the total maximum number of cylinders for all devices defined on the subsystem.

SOLUTION: Define the functional device types in appropriate combinations without exceeding the limits.

The device type sets the number of cylinders for each functional device:

* 3390-1 1113
* 3390-2 2226
* 3390-3 3339
* 3390-9 10017
* 3380-J 885
* 3380-KE 1770
* 3380-K 2655
