Description
During the process to create the mirrored volume on the Master (source) system, a request is sent to the Mirror (target) server, via the 'nbd' transport service, to select appropriately-sized devices on which to create the mirror.
The master (source) server will attempt to allocate the same quantity and size of partitions as the source volume.

If sufficient space cannot be found on a (target) LUN to create the mirror, the mirror creation will fail.

In this situation, you will see error messages of the following form in the (master server) log:

Nov 18 10:37:29 5310-1 nmirror[87]: nmir: Creating new extension 1234ABCD for /volM on 5310-2
Nov 18 10:37:29 5310-1 nmirror[87]: nbd: Cannot find remote space of 11000 MB
Nov 18 10:37:29 5310-1 nmirror[87]: nmir: Failed to create remote partition. Return code = -1
Nov 18 10:37:29 5310-1 nmirror[87]: nmir: Could not establish remote extent 0 of /volM on 5310-2

or:

12/21/06 17:05:45 I nmir: Creating new extension 1234ABCD for /mvol on NAStgt
12/21/06 17:05:45 W nbd: isp3d001,0 is not available
12/21/06 17:05:46 W nbd: Cannot find remote space of 102400 MB
12/21/06 17:05:46 E nmir: The mirror is out of space.
12/21/06 17:05:46 E nmir: Could not establish remote extent 0 of /mvol on NAStgt

Steps to Follow
You can check the 'free' space on the target server disks using:
 - the WEB Admin GUI
- the Telnet CLI interface
  1. Web Admin GUI:
File Volume Operations -> Create File Volumes
     - Select each LUN, note 'Total free space' displayed for each LUN
  1. Telnet CLI:
   NAS > disk
