Description
This document provides the necessary steps to configure the Sun StorEdge[TM] 5210/5310 NAS Appliance to allow for the creation of file names/directory names in nfs exports that contain special characters such as those used in languages other than English.

Verify that the customer is using the latest 5310 os release,
available in patch 119351-xx.	
5210:
-----
Verify that the customer is using the latest 5210 os release,
available in patch 118216-xx.
Configuration for 5210/5310:
---------------------------
-- At the 5210/5310, select the following from the left hand navigation pane:
Unix Configuration  -->Configure nfs -->Set Up Hostgroups
-- In the resulting right hand window, click the "Groups" drop down and select
iso8859
-- Add all of the clients that use the special characters to this group
-- Unix Configuration  -->Configure exports
	create a new nfs export - In the "Hosts" section of the configuration
window, Click the radio button preceding "Host Group", drop down the
Host Group dropdown list and select the iso8859 host group.
-- Click the "OK" button to save the newly created nfs export
-- Click the "Apply" button to save the configuration to the NAS.
-- Telnet to the 5210/5310 NAS, enter admin mode by entering "admin" at the
[menu] prompt and verify that the following environment variable(s) are
not set. If they are set,they must be unset:
Verify variables on NAS head:
show utf* nfs*
utf*: no such variable(s)
nfs.convert.utf8=yes
nfs.utf8=yes
Unset the following parameters on NAS Head if found to be set above:
	unset utf.utf8
	unset nfs.utf8
	unset nfs.convert.utf8
	savevars
-- reboot the 5210/5310 NAS.
-- Mount the newly created nfs export to the client. You should now be able to
create file names/directory names that contain special characters in the
nfs export.
NOTE: The appropriate locale (character set) must be used on the nfs client in
order to see the special characters display properly.  If the locale
(character set) is not set correctly, the special characters will be
converted to the '?' character.
