Description
The LUN and path on a Sun StorEdge[TM] 5310 NAS Appliance (SE5310 NAS) OS are represented as ispXdYYZZ. This document shows how LUN and path information is incorporated in ispXdYYZZ.


Steps to Follow
From the diagnostic report, the format of the LUN and paths is as follows:
Dasdid 600 isp2d020 has 2 paths
P1: isp2d020 status(3) UP ACTIVE
P2: isp4d000 status(1) UP
Dasdid 700 isp2d021 has 2 paths
P1: isp2d021 status(3) UP ACTIVE
P2: isp4d001 status(1) UP 

The break down of this data can be done as below:

|    +---- Host ports on RAID array controller modules. There are four host ports numbered 0 to 3 from left to right (internally). The controller port is physically numbered 1  2   1  2.

+--------- Port on HBA, these are numbered as shown in diagram.

The cases below describe the two recommended configuration with SE5310 and how HBA ports are numbered.

Case 1:

HBA Port numbering SE5310 with 2 Dual ported HBAs we get the numbering as below:

Note: The physical host port numbering  marked on the back of
the array is  1  2  1  2 . The internal host port
numbering and the physical host port numbering do not match
(hardware manufacturing and software engineering snafu).
Now for first LUN - isp2d020 there are two paths
      1. isp2d020 which is
UP - Path is online
ACTIVE - and is being accessed by this path

Path breakdown with 2 Dual ported HBAs:

         isp2d020 --- Left hand side port of lower HBA --> connected to host port 02 on RAID expansion unit --> LUN 0
      2. isp4d000 which is
UP - Path is online but LUN is not being accessed by this path.

Path breakdown with 2 Dual ported HBAs:

         isp4d000 --- Left hand side port of upper HBA --> connected to host port 00 on RAID expansion unit --> LUN 0

Similary for LUN 2:

      1. isp2d021 which is
UP - Path is online
ACTIVE - and is being accessed by this path

Path breakdown with 2 Dual ported HBAs:

         isp2d021 --- Left hand side port of lower HBA --> connected to host port 02 on RAID expansion unit --> LUN 1
      2. isp4d001 which is
UP - Path is online but LUN is not being accessed by this path.

Path breakdown with 2 Dual ported HBAs:

         isp4d001 --- Left hand side port of upper HBA --> connected to host port 00 on RAID expansion unit --> LUN 1
