Description
When replacing an internal disk on the Sun Fire[TM] V100, do not associate HDD0 or HDD1 to the IDE target device addresses Device 0 or Device 1. This applies to any supported part numbered field replaced unit.

Steps to Follow
A diagram attached to the inside of the top cover aids in locating FRUs.

The hard disk drives are referred to as HDD0 and HDD1.
This diagram will show HDD0 as located slightly behind the optical drive and HDD1 as located near the front right corner of the server.
HDD0 is the default boot device c0t2d0 Note: Target ID = 2
OpenBoot[TM] PROM output is as follows:
ok devalias
disk /pci@1f,0/ide@d/disk@2,0
HDD1 is the second (optional) drive c0t0d0 Note: Target ID = 0
OpenBoot PROM output is as follows:
ok devalias
disk /pci@1f,0/ide@d/disk@0,0
OpenBoot PROM probe-ide output is as follows:
ok probe-ide
Device 0 ( Primary Master ) <----- HDD1, located near front right corner
ATA Model: ST340016A
Device 1 ( Primary Slave )
Not Present
Device 2 ( Secondary Master ) <-- HDD0, Boot drive, located behind CD-ROM
ATA Model: ST340016A
Device 3 ( Secondary Slave )
Removable ATAPI Model: CD-224E
Therefore, the normal convention of the boot device being target 0 is not followed on this platform.
Note that target 2 is the default boot device and root disk in this platform.
