Solution

Explanation:

ICE3 Card Configuration Restrictions on the SVA

ICE3 cards cannot have 2 paths from the same LPAR connected to the top two links of the card if both paths are using the same address range.

ICE3 cards cannot have 2 paths from the same LPAR connected to the bottom two links of the card if both paths are using the same address range.

CHPIDs from the same LPAR using the same address range can be connected to one of the top 2 links and one of the bottom 2 links on each ICE3 card.

PPRC Path Restricted to ICE2 Cards

The ICE3 card does NOT support PPRC primary or secondary connections. If an Establish PPRC Path (CESTPATH) command is attempted, the command will be rejected with a fault symptom code of 0B3D. ICE2 cards must be used for Power PPRC connectivity. ICE2 and ICE3 cards may be installed in the same V960.

ESCON Director Restriction

CHPIDs from the same LPAR cannot share the same physical link on a SVA through an ESCON director if those paths are using the same address range. This SVA restriction began with E02.02 microcode , which supports 512 logical host paths.

Solution:

Please refer to the SVA Planning manual for rules and examples regarding configuration definitions, and do not attempt to define an invalid configuration.
