It is imperative to review the related documentation before carrying out this activity to
ensure a successful controller replacement. This document captures the relevant documents
that should be utilized.

Goal

Description

It is critical to review all related documentation when replacing a controller fru in a Sun Storage[TM] 3000 array. It is not merely a matter of pulling and replacing a controller as there are at least 3 firmwares (Controller, SES and PLD) to take into consideration. The controller firmware will crossload in most cases, but the SES and PLD firmwares must be manually updated. In the case of the 3511 Array, there is also SATA Router firmware to consider, which will also not crossload.
