Solution Type Technical Instruction Sure Solution 1006858.1 : OBP/SC parameters are reset after replacing motherboard
PreviouslyPublishedAs 209522 Description To inform the Field organizations (Support Vendor, Re-Seller, &c.) that the OBP/SC parameters will be reset to factory default after replacing the motherboard. Steps to Follow On V210/V240, if the system board is replaced from a PN to a different PN, one cannot login the ALOM console using a user name that was set-up previously. This is due to the parameters on SCC are reset by ALOM. Thus, it is a must to set the SCC parameters again. -- Replace from failed M/B to the same PN : Login OK -- Replace from failed M/B to different PN : Login FAILED As these customized user information are stored in the SCC, these SCC data is reset by ALOM after the system board replacement. The reason being: The SCC is tied to the PN of the system board. When replacing the system board with a different PN, the ALOM thinks the SCC is too different and issues a "set-defaults" to it. This causes the lost of data that stored in SCC previously. Therefore, after the replacement of the system board, the CU has to re-enter the users, passwords and other parameters. This symptom was original found replacing 375-3122 with 375-3150.
