Description
In order to provide you the most accurate fix, please validate that each statement under the symptoms below is true for your environment. These symptoms will hyperlink you into a relevant content that will 1) tell you how to validate the listed symptom and 2) how to fix the symptom if it is true for your environment. The listed symptoms are ordered in the most appropriate sequence to isolate the issue and be certain about the related fix. Please do not skip a step.
Symptoms:

- Failed Hard Drive

- Disk Scrubbing

Steps to Follow
Using "vol verify" command on Sun StorEdge[TM] T3/T3+ Arrays

NOTE: This document describes how to check if the  vol verify   command should be executed.  Vol verify  is a disk scrubbing utility that verifies the integrity of the data on the disks.  This document assumes  you have already determined what drive has failed in step 2 of <Document: 1009745.1>  Troubleshooting T3 Disk Failures To determine if you should use the  vol verify  command  you will need to go through the following steps.

Troubleshooting Steps:

1. Determine which version of T3 firmware is running by using the  ver  command:

Example:

storage-t3b:/:<13>ver

T3B Release 3.1.6 Thu Feb  3 16:39:28 PST 2005 (10.1.229.133)

Copyright (C) 1997-2003 Sun Microsystems, Inc.

All Rights Reserved.

2. If you are running 3.x or higher verify disk_scrubber is enabled run the command  sys list :

Example:

storage-t3b:/:<2>sys list
controller         : 2.0
blocksize          : 64k
cache              : auto
mirror             : auto
mp_support         : rw
naca               : off
rd_ahead           : off
recon_rate         : med
sys memsize        : 128 MBytes
cache memsize      : 1024 MBytes
enable_volslice    : on
fc_topology        : auto
fc_speed           : 1Gb
disk_scrubber      : on
ondg               : befit

3. If disk_scrubber is not "on" or you running 2.x firmware run the command 'vol verify fix' otherwise return to <Document: 1009745.1>  Troubleshooting T3 Disk Failures

NOTE: Vol verifies runs constanly if disk_scrubber is enabled and there is no need to use the  vol verify  command.

Example:

storage-t3b:/:<4>vol verify v1 fix
WARNING - Volume verification can take a significant amount of time.
Continue   [N]: y
Volume verification in progress...

4.Once  vol verify fix  has completed return to <Document: 1009745.1>   Troubleshooting T3 Disk Failures , step 4.
